The Glencore-ZCCM deal stinks! They must be popping champagne in #Switzerland and laughing at #Zambia! How could Bwalya Ng’andu, Richard Musukwa and Barnaby Mulenga agree to this scam? Should there be change of Govt, this deal from hell must be reversed.

It’s almost as if the only consideration was winning some Copperbelt votes in August.

Just got vaccinated in south east London - superbly organised, friendly and efficient, backed by volunteers The NHS at its very best !

Very happy that my former boss has got the jab. But starting to think that Scotland is falling behind England in the roll-out. My 77-year-old Dad hasn’t heard a peep from the Scottish NHS or his GP. Scottish govt talks a good game and plays a bad one.

This is a hugely importantly ruling in the world of foreign corruption: 5 years jail for Beny Steinmetz over bribes paid to a wife of the former Guinean president to obtain iron ore rights. Jail time for corporate corruption remains incredibly rare

Donors shouldn’t give Ethiopia’s government another dollar until it lets food into Tigray.

I’ve followed this case since I used to work regularly in Guinea in 2014 and the more I think about it, the more stunned I am that Beny is ultimately going to jail. Despite all the evidence against him I never quite saw it playing out like this

#BREAKING Transport minister Joel Biggie Matiza has died from Covid-19, government spokesman Ndavaningi Mangwana has told @ZimLive. Matiza was hospitalised last week. He becomes the 4th minister to succumb to the respiratory illness.

Fourth minister in Zimbabwe to have died of covid. I fear for what the true toll is among the wider population

Zambia will hold discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from February 11 to March 3 to negotiate an extended credit facility, the Finance Ministry said on Friday.

Potentially good news for Zambia...

Yes, for standing and defeating Gen. Museveni in an election, which he resoundingly rigged, I am still under house arrest 8 days later! I thank all friends in Uganda and abroad who continue to stand with us, until we put an end to this indignity. Uganda will be free.

South Africa to pay big premium for AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from India's SII - Business Day

What’s maddening is that South Africans risked their health to be part of AZ trials and the government then accepts the argument that SA didn’t participate in research & development of the vaccine.

Very noticeable in the past two weeks how many of the people I follow across the continent either getting covid or reporting friends passing from the disease. Supports data suggesting harsher second wave.

Bloody knackered but I feel so lucky to do this job.

Among other things, in 2020 I’ve reported on:
