Chart from Goldman already showing dip in hospital admissions due to vaccine roll out in US and UK, via @econcallum
UK did about 400k vaccinations in past 24-hour period, highest so far (I think), see below for analysis trying to estimate impact on hospitalisations (probably reducing them by 100s a day)

This somewhat surprising from Gallup finds that before the pandemic job satisfaction in America was high and rising--not what you would expect with some stories of late capitalism
Also important to remember that there are a LOT of underused economic resources across the world. That points to low inflation
However in this piece I wrote with @Henry_Curr we cast a bit of scepticism over these theories. For one thing people's expectations of what will happen to inflation haven't really changed, and expectations are to a large extent self-fulfilling
There are growing concerns that stimulus packages and huge QE are going to produce high inflation in the rich world. Global money supply is rising exceptionally quickly
At end of November about two-thirds of counties had seen a death from covid-19 in the previous week. In April only a minority had seen one in the previous week
Reason 1: the economy was always going to slow; reason 2: the effect of the stimulus passed in spring is wearing off; reason 3: covid death numbers have got very bad
In light of bad jobless claims numbers this morning, here's our piece from last week explaining why the US economy is slowing. We still expect a rapid bounceback when vaccine becomes widely available (40%-ish of population vaccinated by March)
Replying to @natashaloder: OK, the big news is breaking so here we go...
This week I wrote a leader arguing in favour of much more $$$ on a covid-19 vaccine. So far the world has spent about $10bn, compared with $7trn on fiscal stimulus

Another shout-out for this book by @econcallum. Love dipping in and out if it. Read about #Mathus last night & then due to cross referencing in the chapters, William Petty. Both were brilliant. #EconTwitter
