Preserving the filibuster is not worth letting millions of people in this country go hungry, sleep in their cars, or struggle to afford baby formula.
As predicted, the house democrats were dead set on this. Can the left flank of house push senate move?
@ChrisCuomo You're talking about people on the right who a praising and smiling at a gold statue of trump? Their opinions matter less and less nowadays.
Only if there's no filibuster. Tho Sad to believe there are no Republican senators who see the virtue and protecting everyone equally under the law
Brother, it is a bill that is falling almost exactly along party lines. Inherently, there is debate. And the case needs to be made to create a majority. That's how we make progress
@ChrisCuomo Counter argument: I do not need to argue my validity and need for rights and protection as a trans American
You matter. You belong. But until federal law embraces these categories, you'll be at the mercy of state legislatures
By all indications this late spring and summer will be way better for most parts of this country than last summer. We are heading in the right direction in terms of beating this pandemic, despite too many doing the wrong thing for too long. And my cigar tastes great
@ChrisCuomo Chris, why is no one talking about why the Senate has not yet voted to disqualify Trump from ever holding office again? It is critical that he gets some penalty for inciting insurrection..
There is no such vote possible. Disqualification only comes as a potential further consequence of conviction in a senate impeachment trial
@ChrisCuomo I don't know but your boy Adam Kinzinger voted against the Equality Act, so stop treating him like he's better than the trump supporters.
I believe the representative votes in alignment with Trump policies 90% of the time. He is a conservative Republican. He is also someone who believes in condemning demagoguery, and not allowing lies abt the election and to advance extremism.
@ChrisCuomo You referred to this in the past as the nuclear option. Now it’s not so scary? I wonder what changed.
No, Pete. That is what both parties refer to it as. I suggest you do just a little research and see when the filibuster was created in the Senate and why. Then, look to see how often it has been used to achieve a greater good.
House votes to pass Equality Act, sweeping legislation prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity
Some on the right say that this bill is mainly about ruining women's sports and blocking religious freedom. Counter arguments? Agree or disagree and why?
There’s just no acceptable explanation for why the press, year after year, covers CPAC with a level of fervor that’s never given to comparable progressive gatherings.
What should we cover the same way on the left? Not disagreeing, just asking for ideas
Sen. Mitch McConnell: "Protecting democracy cannot be a partisan issue."
Like the bs of moving the trial? Or the bs play that it was not constitutional? Or the bs of voting not to remove then saying trump caused the insurrection????
