BREAKING: The NY State Senate will vote to repeal the Walking While Trans ban.

New Yorkers have been fighting for years to end what’s become stop-and-frisk for the transgender and non-binary community.

The end of the #WalkingWhileTrans ban is coming. Thank you to @bradhoylman, and all the advocates fighting to @repealWWT.

Jaime Harrison has been officially elected as DNC chair, as expected.

Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, and Texas Rep. Filemon Vela Jr. were elected as vice chairs.

Politics at the national level always translates to changes on the ground. These are some of the most significant we’ve ever seen from a federal administration. We thank @POTUS and @VP for their historic leadership.

LGBTQ people cannot be turned away from public housing or homeless shelters on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity, and private landlords cannot discriminate against them either.

Doctors and nurses cannot refuse treatment, and banks cannot refuse services simply because someone identifies as LGBTQ.

Teenagers can now attend prom with the people they choose, and kids can go to class with the assurance that they should be called on with their chosen pronouns.

THREAD: President Biden’s executive order enshrining protections for LGBTQ people isn’t just a mandate — it's a new beginning for many who've faced discrimination. Here’s why.

The federal government is now putting its full force behind anti-discrimination law. Never again will you have to hide pictures of your family or loved ones at work out of concern you may be fired or harassed.

Representation matters both on and off the court. 🏀 Thanks for sharing your story with the world, Marco!

Visibility matters. This is a historic moment, but we're just getting started.

Pete Buttigieg’s historic confirmation hearing to lead President Biden’s Department of Transportation begins today.

He is on track to become the first-ever openly LGBTQ person to be confirmed by the Senate to a Cabinet-level position.

These protections ensure people like Gerald Bostock, who took his case to the Supreme Court after being fired for expressing interest in an LGBTQ softball league, are able to work without fear of being fired because of who they are or whom they love.

We celebrate these victories, and look forward to joining with our allies to fight for anti-discrimination statutes extending additional protections at the state level across the country.

.@POTUS also issued executive orders:
✅ Reversing the #MuslimBan
✅ Stopping construction of Trump’s border wall
✅ Safeguarding DACA

President Biden just issued an executive order protecting Americans against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity — a turning point in our fight for equality under the law.

The executive order enforces the Supreme Court’s decision in June 2020 that sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination are prohibited under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
