The Bond, A Paranormal Love Story

By Barbara Mack
This story had a great premise and storyline. I enjoyed it very much, though I would have liked a little more in-depth character development. At first, I found the dialogue to be a little stilted, but that got better as the story progressed and I became engrossed in the story. It read quickly, and I was very interested in the paranormal aspect. Julian and Laura have an out of body experience and meet after each is in a horrific accident, each leaving part of their soul with the other. Therefore, they are linked when they 'come back'. They have visions of each other, and soon Julian feels that Laura is in danger. The author has a promising career ahead of her; if you're looking for an entertaining paranormal love story, check out The Bond. You won't be sorry.

The story begins with a fantastic premise - two people having near-death experiences at the exact same time, which causes them to form a psychic bond despite the large geographical distance between them. From that point the plot goes off in an unexpected direction, involving a mixture of mystery, thriller, and romance. It leaves the reader trying to figure out how all of this is going to tie together, turning pages to discover where it is headed. But all paths eventually lead to a tight, well-written conclusion, where everything that came before makes sense, including a twist I didn't see coming. The only small nitpick I have is that I would have liked more interaction between the two leads Their time together is enjoyable to read, but a little too brief. The secondary characters are well-developed, especially Laura's friend Mary. If you're a fan of paranormal romance laced with mystery and suspense, I highly recommend this book.

The bond is a quick and entertaining read. It is about Laura and Julian who both get hit by cars at the exact same moment on opposite sides of the country from each other. They both have an out of body experience and meet each other while floating high up in the sky outside their bodies. They get a strong sense of and feel an intense connection to the other. Essentially a bond is formed and once they are well and getting back on with their lives they are still having thoughts of each other. Meanwhile Laura starts dating a man and Julian gets a feeling of impending doom that he believes has to do with Laura. You'll have to read the story to find out what happens next. I liked this book, and thought it was very well done. It was well written and fast paced. The story was engaging and flowed nicely. It was interesting and I liked Laura and Julian. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of them together but alas the story came to an end. I think this author shows a lot of promise and will be one to watch.

Let Us Play, A Rock ‘n Roll Love Story

By SWolf
Mysticism abounds in this rock'n'roll fable about a world where brutal censorship is the rule of the day, and the freedoms of choice we all take for granted are nowhere to be found. Rock and Roll has been outlawed and Kaya is the leader of the underground group fighting this intolerance. This story takes us from her witnessing the murder of her father, to her first rebellion as a high school student, to her becoming a charismatic leader of the resistance movement. Karen Magill has woven a complex character tapestry, with people coming into and going out of Kaya's life, including mentors, best friends, fellow revolutionaries, and love interests, I love the paranormal aspects of this story, with Kaya possessing a psychic ability that allows her to guide her followers on an unerring path, as they fight against the evil that controls their lives. If you like plenty of action and characterization, with a touch of the supernatural, and a good measure of rock and roll thrown in, I highly recommend this book.

LUPO (Let Us Play Organization) and PARR (People Against Rock and Roll) are two powerful organisations battling it out in the future United States. The subsequent years of music and Rock and Roll, yet to come, all rest on which corporation has the determination and strength to win. Kaya More is blessed with the gift of second sight. Using her powers to lead LUPO, Kaya becomes entangled in the fight of her life against Judah Arnold, the leader of PARR. With strong beliefs and resolve, from either side, the conclusion of the battle is not yet assured. Let Us Play is a novel written of power, love and intrigue and no page can or should be be left unturned. Interesting plots are always a plus for readers and reviewers alike, and the fight for the right to play music has to be up there with the best of them. Combine a compelling storyline with excellent characterisation and you have a novel that packs a punch. So, if music happens to be one of your first loves, be sure to grab your copy of Let Us Play, right now
